Physical Therapy for injuries.

All developing children and adolescents can benefit from Physical Therapy, especially following injuries, surgery, or if they suffer from permanent physical limitations. Our Therapists work closely with young developing bodies to assess and create individual plans based on their specific needs.

If your child is constantly complaining of pain and/or discomfort during or after sporting activities, in the morning or at night, then it’s a good indication that you need to take action. It is important to take action as soon as possible to avoid chronic injury, enable them to continue to enjoy the benefits of physical exercise without discomfort and give them the opportunity to reach their full potential in daily life.

As a parent, If you notice problems or movements that “don’t look right”, trust your gut and get them assessed as generally these issues/delays do not disappear by themselves. When it comes to biomechanics early intervention is key.

Don’t wait for pain as when pain, issues or delays are present from a young age we tend to see compensations, these compensations can mean your child might shy away from physical activities.

At Active Strides we commonly assess and treat the following conditions:

  • Growing pains such as Severs Disease (heel pain), Osgood Schlatter Disease (front just below knee), and back pain.
  • Jumper’s knee (pain under kneecap)
  • Fractures
  • Stress reactions of growth plates
  • Strains and Sprains
  • Tight/stiff muscles
  • Hypermobility
  • TMJ and headaches
  • Scoliosis/Postural related problems
  • General aches and pain
  • Concussion assessment and management
  • Musculoskeletal/sports injuries and return to sport.
  • Post surgery and fracture rehabilitation ie. ACL or tendon release

Our Therapists work with you to provide strong fundamentals for growth and development – to help develop and strengthen gross motor patterns needed to participate in high level sport and exercise, improve performance and avoid injury caused by improper movement and poor postures.
